The Shape of Fur: a study of the human condition in our furry friends
Come to Art Center for the opening reception of The Shape of Fur, featuring paintings by local artist Melissa Olson. In this expressive and bold series, Olson explores both the dignity and serenity of her furry subjects in a somewhat playful style. She seeks to understand the connection between pets and their human counterparts, by revealing the underlying compassion in her paintings.
“It's no secret that Humanity has gone through a lot of adaptation in the last 2 years . Somewhere in the chaos I started to focus on our domestic furry companions for guidance and how to adapt in an ever-changing environments. What I discovered is that the divide between human and creature is smaller then what we tend to perceive.” ~ M. Olson
Please join us on Saturday, December 18 for the opening event. We will provide light refreshments, and you can meet the artist, purchase her work. Melissa will also have her hand-crafted jewelry on sale. The event is free and open to the public.
